Lyrics

Seven Deadly Sins
Paula Cole

One: You want and want like an animal, never satisfied.
Two: Eating and drinking beyond your belly, nothing left for others.
Three: There is no material wealth to make you feel king enough.
Four: Sleep instead of exert, you let others do the work, indolent.
Five: You act out violently with your fury causing mass destruction.
Six: In wanting what the hero has the malicious, sick force in you (Seven) wants to
tear down the hero.
Your huge ego, your sense of self, your hubris is capital vainglory.
Your wicked ways
Your fall from grace
You never listened to your mother anyway
You never learned
You never learned
You never learned.

One: And so you sleep with others, no matter the marriages you roam and range.
Two: The suit size continues to swell.
Three: Keeping up with the Joneses? - It’s never enough you only want more.
Four: You lie about and watch the slaves build your pyramids.
Five: Punch a wall, punch a face, no limit to your violence.
Six: Just a jealous guy.
Seven: The rotten core of it all, you actually believe you are king, pharaoh and
President of the United States of you.

Your wicked ways
Your fall from grace
You never listened to your mother anyway
Your wicked ways
Your fall from grace
You never listened to your father anyway
You never learned
You never learned
You never learned.

Step by step I’ll get to heaven
Good deed by good deed, better,
I’ll work to make some leverage,
I’ll find my inside,
Step by step I’ll get to heaven
Good deed by good deed, better,
I’ll work to get some leverage,
I’ll find my inside,
Step by step I’ll get to heaven
Good deed by good deed, better,
I’ll work to get some leverage,
I’ll find my inside,
Step by step…
